BRT Emergency Micro Grant Program 2025

Purpose

The Emergency Micro Grant Fund is designed to support small businesses located in the Colfax Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), from Grant Street to Josephine Street (including Maaco just past Josephine) and between 16th Avenue and 14th Avenue that have been adversely impacted by the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) construction.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, a business must:

  • Be physically located in a commercial storefront building within the Colfax Ave BID Boundaries - The Colfax Ave BID spans from Grant Street on the west to Josephine Street on the east, and from 16th Avenue on the north to 14th Avenue on the south. Business needs to be in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, and compliant with all city, state and federal licensing and taxing authorities.
  • Be engaged in activities that are legal under Colorado state law.
  • In operation and open to the public for a minimum of six months prior to the date of the submitted application.
  • Be experiencing a 10% or greater decline in gross revenue over a consecutive three-month period in 2024 or 2025, compared to the same period in 2023 or 2024.
  • Have gross annual revenue of $5 million or less in 2024.
  • Not have received funding from DEDO’s Business Impact Opportunity (BIO) Fund Grant.
  • Submit verifiable documentation for requested use of funds (receipt, quote, invoice, payroll record, etc.).
  • If applicant is intending to close permanently, or if applicant closed during the application review process and does not intend to reopen, the applicant is no longer eligible, as the program’s primary goal is business preservation.

  • Rent and utility payments
  • Payroll
  • Vendor payments
  • Marketing and advertising
  • Inventory
  • Emergency repairs
  • Other documented operational costs directly tied to the business's survival

Grant Awards

  • Amounts range from $500 to $1,500 depending on verified need.
  • The final award is based on documentation and a scoring rubric.
